This year’s couture spring/summer collections saw a trending 1960’s inspiration. Fashion week in Paris seems to be more beautiful every year, making it extremely difficult not to fall more in love with our legendary fashion houses all over again.
Valentino has never ceased to amaze but this year he has out done himself with his simply exquisite line. Inspired by a romantic secret garden dream world, his collection featured flowered embroidery, embellished lace and lady like silhouettes that exhibited timeless, effortless beauty. It is no surprise that his gowns are so sought after by many fashionistas.
The Dior collection was literally about the spring season. Dior outdid themselves with bright colour combinations, florals, and silks as blue theCaribbean ocean. J’adore Dior!!
An “Ode to Delicateness” was the name for the Elie Saab Spring Collection, with the inspiration being evident in the gowns intricate embellishments. Saab’s collection featured alluring yet tastefully elegant sheer necklines and skirts, mostly in multicolour floras and pastel colours. His collection is the absolute epitome of refined sensuality and feminism.
For his fourth couture show, Valli debut a “flow and fauna” themed collection, featuring silhouettes embroidered with feathers, oversized ruffles and mesh. Each model looked dazzling, draped in tiaras, necklaces and belts created by jeweller Luigi Scialanga.
