We’ve seen it on fashion runways and the red carpet. The blue eyeshadow has made its debut once more after the boisterous 80’s and even bolder than ever. Blue is a superb colour for the summertime. It is a great alternative from the blacks or browns that we are so used to. And not to mention, it can be versatile and can be complemented with fall colours as well.
To most women, blue eyeshadow can be intimidating and may look a bit eccentric. But after seeing Lupita Nyongo’s beauty look on the red carpet at the SAG awards, all hope is not lost for our dearest blues. There are ways to play with such colour while making it look chic. Instead of using the usual greys and browns on your smoky eye routine, use blue as the base colour then add extra glam by using blue mascara (Dior Diorshow Macara in Azure Blue, Sephora.ca, $25) or blue eyeliner (Lancôme Long Wear Calligraphy Gel Eyeliner in Indigo Darling, Sephora.ca, $28)
Capture Lupita Nyongo’s red carpet blue gaze by swiping your lids with Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow in Fascination (Chanel.com, $59). Then apply Chanel Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Amethyst (Hudson’s Bay, $34) to the outer corner of the eye blending towards the center. With Le Crayon Kohl Intense Eye Pencil in Pêche Cuivré (Chanel.com, $29) line on the upper lash line topped with Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Noir. Finish with Stylo Veux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Violine (Chanel.com, $32) on the lower lash line.
