Beauty Recap at NYFW: When Less Equals More

For many years, it was common to hide imperfections by piling makeup on. But it seems that New York Fashion Week beg to differ and want you to embrace even the littlest dot and freckle. Skin gets a breather this season. With foundations sheer and colour as minimal as possible, there is no doubt that practical beauty is the way to go come Fall.

Makeup artist Diane Kendal created fresh faces for Jason Wu to compliment models’s hair that naturally cascaded down the shoulders revealing a more realistic visage. To create a perfect base, Kendal applied Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum then Nude Miracle Liquid-to-Powder Makeup.

At Donna Karan, Charlotte Tilbury decided to give models bold brows and a hint of flush on the cheeks and lips with the use of MAC Lipstick in Spirit and Verve.

Parabal Gurung was inspired by the outdoors so makeup artist Diane Kendal gave models a healthy flush by applying a peach blush on the cheeks swiping it through the temples. Cheeks, brow bones and nose bridges were lightly tapped with highlighting powder.

To create impact, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Derek Lam decided to give eyes an emphasis. At Marc by Marc Jacobs, models eyes were lined with Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Black and used Magic Marc’er Liquid Liner to create a sharpened edge. Then lashes were defined with O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara.

At Derek Lam, makeup artist Tom Pecheux applied a ashy-brown eyeshadow to models’s lids.
