Just in time to ward off the return of Canada’s famously chilly fall, Canadian Wool Month returns in October, 2021 with a host of fleecy festivities. Organized by the Campaign for Wool Canada to highlight the incredible versatility of Canadian wool, the 2021 incarnation of the initiative will bring together partners from the fashion, interior design, and art sectors in a celebration of Canada’s wool producers and creators.

“We look forward to Wool Month each year because it presents an opportunity to share the virtues of Canadian wool in a way that is fun and engaging”, said Matthew J. Rowe, CEO of the Campaign for Wool Canada. “This year, we’ve secured some exceptional partners who we think will turn some heads and get people excited about our favourite fibre.”

For the Campaign, Wool Month represents a chance to educate the public about the wonders of wool in general, and in particular to show the incredible potential of Canadian wool in value-added products.  As an eminently sustainable, biodegradable, and uniquely elastic material with innate temperature, moisture regulating and anti-microbial properties, Canadian wool offers a literal homegrown solution with applications in fashion, interior design, art, construction and healthcare.

An annual initiative since 2014 (when it was merely Wool Week), Canadian Wool Month has historically welcomed support from exceptional retail and design partners on its mission to encourage public awareness on the merits of wool through highly visible programs and events.

Following last year’s successes which included a Canadian wool rug project with designer Sarah Richardson and a stunning, all-wool bust of HRH The Prince of Wales, Wool Month 2021 promises to raise the bar even higher with a robust schedule of programs and activities that includes:

The Campaign for Wool was launched in Canada by TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall in 2014. Under the continued patronage of The Prince, the Campaign represents the Canadian arm of a global endeavour across 13 countries to raise awareness of the unique and natural benefits of wool. In Canada, the campaign brings together designers, growers, retailers, and manufacturers in an educational outreach about wool as a fibre and the importance of supporting the domestic industry.
