Air Canada Vacations has relaunched its “How Does a Vacation Sound?” campaign, and the pitch this time is less about where you go and more about how present you are once you get there. The message: put the phone down, feel the sun, and let a vacation actually be a vacation.
Slowing Down as the Selling Point
The campaign leans into a shift that’s become hard to ignore in travel marketing — people aren’t just booking trips for the destination anymore, they’re booking them for the feeling of disconnecting. “Travel has always been about more than simply reaching a destination,” said Selma Filali, Senior Director, Marketing and Digital at Air Canada Vacations. In an always-connected world, she said, many Canadians are craving the chance to slow down and be fully present, and the campaign is built to help travellers rediscover the anticipation of a vacation and reconnect with what matters.
It’s a soft-focus message, but it’s backed by a fairly aggressive rollout.
What’s Actually Happening
Running August 10 to September 7, 2026, the campaign spans digital and social activations along with high-impact out-of-home placements in major markets like Montreal and Toronto. There’s also an influencer-driven “Vacation Starter Pack” giveaway, offering a curated set of travel essentials aimed at the same present-and-unplugged theme.
Alongside the marketing push, Air Canada Vacations is rolling out its new 2026–2027 Digital Sun Guide, spotlighting the company’s Dream of Sun collection — over 600 vacation options in total, now expanded to include a handful of sunny European beach destinations alongside the usual cruise and all-inclusive offerings.
The Contest Worth Paying Attention To
The campaign’s centerpiece for consumers is the Unwind with a Vacation Contest. The grand prize is substantial: round-trip flights, a seven-night all-inclusive stay for two at Royalton Reserve Paraíso de la Bonita in the Riviera Maya, and 100,000 Aeroplan points on top.
The Bigger Picture
Air Canada Vacations has been in the business of curated getaways for more than 50 years, with packages spanning Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, and Asia. Packages fly on Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge, with Aeroplan points earnable and redeemable throughout — a detail that keeps the loyalty program tied tightly into the pitch, even as the campaign’s messaging stays focused on something less transactional: the feeling of finally switching off.
