- Emotional connection (24.9%)
- Feeling safe and secure with a partner (24%)

- Overcoming internalised stigma or shame related to sexuality (30%)
- Misconceptions to Dispel: When asked about common misconceptions, respondents most often cited:
- The idea that one partner needs to take on a ‘male’ or dominant role (17%).
- The idea that sex requires penetration to ‘count’ (16%).
- The idea that lesbian sex always lasts for hours (16%).
- That lesbian sex is not ‘real sex’ (16%).
- That sex toys or aids are always needed (15%).
- That lesbian sex is less satisfying than heterosexual sex (15%).
