Michael Kors took over the Sculpture Garden at MoMA in New York this week for a Spring/Summer 2027 show built around a single idea: architectural modernism.
The designer described the collection as a study in things built to last, saying it centers on modernism and timeless design while still aiming to feel joyful and eye-opening. That balance showed up throughout the lineup — lean tailoring paired with shrunken silhouettes, sculptural dress shapes, and clean curved lines. Crisp stripes and gingham sat alongside painterly florals and bold color-blocking, in a palette that pulled from the garden setting itself: grass green, sunflower yellow, coral, and wave blue. Fabrics leaned seasonless, mixing cotton and wool for a wardrobe meant to move between temperatures.
Accessories followed the architectural thread too, with sculptural bags and shoes, mid-century-style jewelry, and oversized eyewear rounding out the looks.
Kors said the collection also drew on people-watching at museums and gallery openings, and the cast of characters you find there — an idea reflected in the show’s mixed, eclectic styling. A custom score from composer Sebastien Perrin set the mood, and the runway included Alex Consani, Paloma Elsesser, Anok Yai, Awar Odhiang, Noor Khan, Hejia Li, Liisa Winkler, and Julia Nobis, among others.
Front row, the brand pulled in a strong celebrity turnout, including Gabrielle Union, Lea Michele, Olivia Munn, Jordyn Woods, Chloe Fineman, Grace Van Patten, Jackson White, and Danny Ramirez — many dressed in pieces from the brand’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection, from cashmere separates to draped column dresses.
The show also marked the launch of the brand’s new Instagram account, @MichaelKorsCollection, which the label says will go beyond current collections to cover travel, museum visits, and other things that shape Kors’ design thinking — part of the brand’s celebration of 45 years in business.
