As sun sets on another September, The Balvenie looks to kick off an autumn of golden hues, handcrafted complexity, and full-bodied flavour with three tasteful ways to cozy up with The Balvenie’s traditionally handcrafted single malts this season.
“Our time-honoured process in crafting each bottle of whisky ensures each sip of The Balvenie tells a story of craftsmanship, heritage and character, no matter how you best enjoy,” comments Jamie Johnson, Canadian National Brand Ambassador for The Balvenie. “It’s the perfect single malt scotch to enjoy neat, paired with light fare or in a cocktail this fall season.”
The Balvenie makers devote their passion for craft in all they do, displaying ultimate craftsmanship and timeless artistry at every stage of its production for over a century. The Balvenie follows its five rare crafts when crafting its whisky, using home grown barley, their own malting floor, copper stills, and Malt Master in the production of each of their handcrafted single malt scotch whiskies. With the slow, gentle production of each remarkable scotch at its distillery in Speyside – they take their whisky seriously, but not themselves.
THE BALVENIE DOUBLEWOOD 12 YEAR OLD – The Speyside Tonic
The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old stirs seamlessly into the savoury and light Speyside Tonic cocktail, a sophisticated pre-meal aperitif. The Speyside Tonic combines honeyed notes of the twelve-year-old single malt scotch with the nuttiness of Fino sherry, crisp fruitiness of Calvados and the slight dryness of tonic. Garnish with a skewer of Nocellara olives and enjoy the golden glow of this cocktail while basking in a stunning autumn landscape.

Build ingredients in a chilled glass with ice. Stir with a bar spoon and garnish with a skewer of Nocellara olives.
THE BALVENIE SWEET TOAST OF AMERICAN OAK – paired with Oolong Tea
The complexity of flavours in both whisky and tea are synonymous, offering a unique and unrivaled way to savour a variety of warming flavours. Tea and whisky share a long history and focus on quality craftsmanship, both embodying respective processes that affect flavour, such as the growing and drying of tea leaves and the malting, fermentation and maturation of barley for whisky.
The crisp, cool air of the autumn season brings an added appeal to cozy, warming drinks such as tea, making for a perfect pairing for a cool autumn evening. The Balvenie Sweet Toast of American Oak boasts notes of candied orange peel, vanilla toffee and butterscotch, making for a perfect pairing with oolong tea’s wonderfully creamy and soft character. The result is an added softness to the single malt scotch whisky’s spiciness, imparting a bolder butterscotch note.
THE BALVENIE WEEK OF PEAT 14 – paired with Blue Cheese, walnuts & cured meats
There are many ways to enjoy The Balvenie, but the simplest way to discover the flavours and complexity is to enjoy The Balvenie neat in a Glencairn glass, often with a few drops of water to open up the flavours as the liquids combine.
The Balvenie Week of Peat opens with a gentle, sweet peat smoke balanced by citrus flavours, oaky vanilla and blossom honey, making for a delectable dram to savour alongside an autumnal charcuterie board. Illuminate the senses with accompaniments of blue cheese, walnuts and cured meats for an added layer of flavour that will linger on the palate long after the last bite.
