Gucci Presents its Next High Watchmaking Collection

Transparent sapphire glass has become a key signature of Gucci High Watchmaking, and in 2024 the GUCCI 25H Skeleton Tourbillon line welcomes three new 40mm interpretations in the avant-garde material. Set on black, blue or pink alligator straps, the dials are accented with matching colored details on the Interlocking G logo at 12 o’clock, hands and flying tourbillon. A full 360-degree view of the skeletonized movement can be admired thanks to the transparent sapphire case, which is sized at an ultra-thin 8.2mm thickness. Machining this precise dimension is no easy feat: despite sapphire’s inherent hardness and durability, the utmost skill and experience of the cutter is required to assure against any breakage or shattering of the material.

The G-Timeless Planetarium stands out for its distinctive and inimitable 12 rotating precious stones that encircle a central tourbillon in a rich rainbow of color and light. A special start-and-stop function activates the stones to spin on themselves in 9 seconds, and clockwise around the dial in 90 seconds. A chromatic explosion now enters the collection: fiery tones of opals and garnets and sunny yellow beryls give way to verdant peridot and tourmaline, as tranquil hues of topaz and tanzanite are rounded out by lustrous amethysts and fancy pink rubellites. The stones’ vibrant charm is further enhanced by a textured guilloché base that reflect the stones’ beauty and light. The center tourbillon is crafted in a diamond-set flower motif, a design that’s echoed on the caseback. Sized at 40mm, the watch comes in either white or pink gold, accented by contrasting blue or subtle golden accents.

The House’s High Watchmaking expands its repertoire with Gucci Interlocking, a new line that combines two emblematic complications – the flying tourbillon and jumping hours – which dance together in a striking new cushion shape case. The new Gucci Interlocking collection is a masterclass in details, its multi-layered dial display filled with motion and depth.

The watch’s jumping hour display is crafted from a hand-lacquered hour disc of Roman numerals, inspired by the shape of the Interlocking G motif. As the time jumps to the correct hour, the Roman numeral is revealed in an aperture within a semi-transparent, smoked sapphire glass in black or blue, which subtly conceals the other numerals on the hour disc. A shimmering layer of iridescent aventurine glass encloses the minute hand disc, which also moves in sync with the oscillating weight behind – giving the design a captivating allure. This is further enhanced by the flying tourbillon at the heart of the dial – the same found on the new GUCCI 25H Minute Repeater – with a contemporary cage embellished with a GG logo that’s also echoed on the engraved caseback.

Such attention to detail also marks the cushion case and two-part bezel, both featuring a mix of brushed and polished finishes for a remarkable play of light. Sized at 41mm with a 10.7mm thickness, and coming in either pink or white gold, the Gucci Interlocking is a true feat of outstanding craftsmanship and watchmaking expertise.

With uniquely shaped and patterned bridges, the movement of this exceptional and architectural carillon minute repeater features three small hammers that strike different harmonious notes for hours, quarter hours, and minutes. Emanating a rich and complex sound that resembles a musical instrument, each handcrafted minute repeater comes with its own subtle and unique chime and tone, making each watch unique. The on-demand minute repeater is activated not by a conventional pusher but by an innovative rotating bezel – infusing this masterpiece of precision engineering with unexpected flair and style. Despite such a complex movement featuring 340 hand-assembled components, the watch still retains the signature streamlined profile of the GUCCI 25H, and comes in an ultra-thin 9.9mm tri-layer case. An octagonal crown hidden at 3 o’clock channels the sleek, urban aesthetic of this iconic collection.

The openwork dial is composed of an intricate pattern created by the art of cymatics, where sound waves are used to generate matter and form. Sounds inspired from the minute repeater’s striking hammers were translated into waves and ultimately patterns – delivering a breath-taking fusion of sonic alchemy and visual splendor.

Meanwhile the dial’s distinct Roman numeral index markers represent an exclusive new typography. Inspired by the round shape of the Interlocking G, the numerals at 12, 3 and 9 o’clock are complemented by a tourbillon cage at 6 o’clock. Sized at 40mm and matched with a mat finish, black alligator strap, the GUCCI 25H Minute Repeater comes in either white or pink gold.
