NICHE magazine was invited to Puerto Vallarta by Puerto Vallarta Tourism to put a fashionable NICHE spin on the beauty of Puerto Vallarta. For our RESORT 2017 issue photoshoot we focused in on mixing Puerto Vallarta’s extraordinary culture, fashion and locations to result in a breathtaking exclusive shoot SEE HERE
THE PREP WORK:
Soon after finding out we would be travelling to Puerto Vallarta to coordinate multiple fashion shoots, we began researching local talent and fashion to feature. Our Style Editor, Josie Saldat worked alongside Editor in Chief, Tracey Drake to source out local modelling company, POSE Models and choose two fresh faces for this very special shoot.
We worked with Carlos and William of POSE models and cast two local Puerto Vallarta female models, Isela and Venecia. We then linked up with Puerto Vallarta hairstylist, Alex Arizmendy to be our hairstylist on set. Along with Photographer: Steve Drake, Beauty Artist: Gracie Welch, Fashion Stylist: Josie Saldat and Editor and Chief, Tracey Drake – our team was complete!
Our stylist researched local fashion designers and we pulled garments from Puerto Vallarta designer, Gerardo Copado Studio. Along with designs from Hudson’s Bay as well as stunning eyewear from Mayfair Optometric Clinic. Upon arrival NICHE approached a few local companies to team up on fashion for our shoots. One was local Puerto Vallarta jewelry designer, Cassandra Shaw to pull artisanal silver and precious stone accessories as well as scarves for our fashion shoots. The second was Myskova Boutique located in the heart of downtown Puerto Vallarta on the Malecón. The third company was stunning dresses and jewelry made locally sold at Hotel Catedral Vallarta.
Throughout the two full shoot days in Puerto Vallarta we photographed at numerous shoot locations. The first day consisted of shooting swimwear at Mantamar Beach Club in their beachside pool and cabanas. In the afternoon the team moved to the rooftop of Hotel Mousai for shooting resort wear. The second day started off with a photoshoot in the markets of Puerto Vallarta and then moved into the Gringo Gulch area. Our last shoot destination was in Galería Colektica photographing models beside the breathtaking vibrant artwork and in the steep rocky streets of the city against the colorfully painted doors and accent walls.
