For its second year, Auchentoshan is proud to release the second edition of Bartender’s Malt, a specially crafted Single Malt Scotch Whisky created by bartenders, for bartenders. Twelve bartenders from around the world, known as the New Malt Order (NMO), came together to develop this bold new liquid. Bartender’s Malt Edition 02 is a rich yet approachable Single Malt crafted to build excellence in mixology. Released just in time for the holiday season, it is the perfect gift for Scotch enthusiasts, at-home mixologists, cocktail fans and bartenders alike.
ABOUT THE NEW MALT ORDER
Auchentoshan challenged bartenders from around the world to ferment an ingredient that best heroes their city and to include it in a unique cocktail application. The competition was judged by an expert panel in each country, to identify 12 impressive individuals worldwide who had what it takes to forge the second roster of Auchentoshan’s New Malt Order. Canadians Andre Duncan and Nick Incretolli represented Canada in this global collective.
Winners were flown to Auchentoshan’s headquarters in Glasgow, Scotland where they experienced an exclusive immersion into the world of whisky with Auchentoshan Master Blender Ron Welsh. After building on both blending skills and whisky knowledge, Auchentoshan placed the entire production process into the hands of 2018’s NMO collective.
Each bartender was assigned to blend a cask of their own – a cask that reflected their personality and flavour preferences. Bartender’s Malt Edition 02 was born from the marriage of these individual casks, with the bottle proudly featuring the 12 bartenders’ signatures.
“The creation of this specially crafted Single Malt Whisky was a wholehearted, collaborative effort that the team of innovative bartenders are immensely proud of,” says Matt Jones, World Whisky Brand Ambassador at Beam Suntory. “The goal was to create a high proof, rich flavoured and highly mixable product. Bartender’s Malt Edition 02 achieves just that!”
Amber honey in colour, the Bartender’s Malt Edition 02 offers dried orange peel, vintage port, grenadine and cinnamon on the nose. On the palate, the Single Malt reveals orange wine, saffron, heather honey and black pepper. It finishes with notes of London, hints of pepper and orange liqueur.
“We’ve put together a blend that matches their requirements as bartenders, so nice high strength and lots of flavour,” says Ron Welsh. “It’s one of, if not the best Auchentoshan’s I’ve ever tasted.”

1oz – Auchentoshan Bartender’s Malt Edition 02
0.5oz – Honey Syrup (1 part honey with 1 part water)
1oz – Orange Juice
0.5oz – Lemon Juice
0.5oz red wine (Merlot) on top
Combine all ingredients except the red wine into a shaker
Strain liquid into a chilled Coupe glass
Layer 0.5oz red wine (Merlot) on top
