Is the trend of chic sneakers here to stay? Appearing on the runway for the past few seasons, sneakers seem to been evolving from street wear to luxury. With Chanel taking a leap into the trend and revamping their classic tweed into functional and fashionable sneakers for spring 2014, many other fashion houses have joined the calling of the comfort shoe.Marc by Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs hopped on board with fun metallic flat runners incorporated into his Marc by Marc Jacobs spring collection this year. Many designers are now experimenting with mixing their high-end label with a street style vibe. Kate Spade collaborated with Keds to create fashion forward summer flats with an inevitable runway feel. Italian fashion house, Prada showcased fun lace-up sneakers with a laid-back casual vibe. Not only for women’s collections, but also menswear, Dior and Saint Laurent demanded attention on the runway with leading edge innovative sneaker designs. Givenchy took a spin on high-tops and created luxury leather street sensible shoes with stars applied onto the straps for unique additive touch. Creative Director for Dior, Raf Simons collaborated with Adidas to launch a line of sneakers with a mix of Simons and Adidas signature style.

Alexander Wang stuck to his chic and simple design aesthetic using black leather for his sneakers with uncommon stitching details.Versace recently released their spring/summer high-top black buffed premium leather sneakers detailed with gold hardware and velcro straps. With the signature medusa appliquéd on the tounge, we would expect none the less from Donatella.VERSACEjpg
